The Croatian futsal national team has learned about their opponents at the World Championship, which will be held in Uzbekistan. She also found out about the opponents for the European Championship that will be held in 2026

The draw for the groups of the World Futsal Championship was held in Samarkand, and after 24 years of waiting, Croatia will take part in it.

The Croatian futsal national team took the final step to qualify for the world championships in the additional qualifiers against Poland, and in the group draw they were placed in the third strongest group.

The balls have decided that in Uzbekistan, Marinko Mavrović’s team will play against Brazil as the group’s holder, as well as Cuba and Thailand, and the two best teams from each group will secure a place in the round of 16.

The group is competitive, Brazil is the first favorite, and we can play on an equal footing with Thailand and Cuba. The first match against Thailand is very important, but we have great chances to reach the knockout phase of the competition. I think we did well, the other groups seem to be evenly distributed in terms of quality, the most important thing is that we are at our optimal level and I believe that we are able to qualify for the second round

The World Championship is scheduled for September 14 to October 6 this year. Croatia will play its first match on September 14 in Bukhari against Thailand, followed by a match against Brazil on September 18, also in Bukhari, and the third match in the group, against Cuba, is scheduled for September 20 in Tashkent.

Group A
: Uzbekistan, Netherlands, Paraguay, Costa Rica
Group B: Brazil, Cuba, Croatia, Thailand
Group C: Argentina, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Angola
Group D: Spain, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Libya
Group E: Portugal, Panama, Tajikistan, Morocco
Group F: Iran, Venezuela, Guatemala, France.

The Croatian futsal national team will play in the qualifiers for the European Championship in Latvia and Lithuania in 2026 in Group 5, together with Azerbaijan, Sweden, and Greece.

Qualifying matches will be played on four FIFA dates, from December 9 to 18, 2024, January 27 to February 5, March 3 to 12, and April 7 to 16, 2025.

Ten group winners will qualify directly for the European Championship, and the eight best second-placed teams will play in additional qualifications, after which the four remaining travelers will be known who will join hosts Lithuania and Latvia at the final tournament.

I am satisfied with the draw, Azerbaijan will be the most difficult opponent in the fight for first place and direct placement, but I am convinced that Croatia has the quality on the basis of which it can justify the role of the first seed and hope for a direct placement at the European Championship. Of course, we respect all the opponents in the group as much as possible, Sweden coach Matija Đulvat knows us very well and those matches will be quite difficult. However, we have already shown that we can deal with challenges and I believe that the team will be up to the task
