CROATIA WON AGAINST SLOVAKIA IN VELIKA GORICA

Croatia defeated Slovakia in the second tier of the UEFA Nations League

The Croatian women’s national football team beat Slovakia 2:0 in the 5th round of Group 2 of League B, which is played as part of the UEFA Nations League. The game was played on Friday at the city stadium in Velika Gorica. Slovakia was a slight favorite in this game, but Croatia showed that they had a better day than the guests. Goals for Croatia were scored by Ružica Krajinović in the 53rd minute and Jelena Dordić in the 60th minute of the game.

Before the end of the competition, Croatia was third in the group with six points. That’s one point less than Slovakia, the second. Finland is at the top of the group with the maximum number of points. At the bottom of the group is Romania, which has one point.

Croatia will play against Romania on Tuesday as part of the last sixth round. If Croatia finishes in second place, in February they will play for a place in League A against the third-placed national team from the strongest group. If Croatia wins third place in the group, they will play against the second-placed teams from League C to stay in the second tier of the UEFA Nations League.

For now, this is one of the better results of the Croatian women’s national football team. But we have to ensure that we stay in this rank, and let’s hope that the girls will do it right. If they manage to win second place in the group, they will have the opportunity to play with one of the stronger teams.

In Croatia, women’s football is not so popular, but this can be a trigger for further success. The national team needs to rise to a higher level. It doesn’t have to be immediately in February, but let it be done in the next three to four years. In the same way, it is necessary to raise women’s club football to a higher level. Let’s hope that better days are coming for Croatian women’s football.
