HOST PORTUGAL BEAT CROATIA U17, CROATIA U19 DEFEATED BY TURKEY

The Croatian U-17 national football team suffered its first defeat in the Elite round of qualification for going to the European Championship. After a 3:3 draw with Germany in the first round, the Croatian under-17 national team faced off against the host Portugal, who recorded their second win in the Elite round.

Silva and Quenda took care of the final 3:0 in the first half, Mora in the second half, and Marijan Budimir’s chosen team will play against the Republic of Ireland in the third round.

Qualifications for the U-17 European Championship, Elite Round:

  1. Portugal 6
  2. Germany 4
  3. Croatia 1
  4. Republic of Ireland 0.

The young Croatian U-19 national team was defeated in Varaždin by Turkey (1:2) in the second match of the elite round of European Championship qualifications.

Siniša Oreščanin’s team suffered a narrow defeat in a game in which the Turks took an early 2:0 lead with goals from Yildirim (5′) and Uzun (10′). In the rest of the game, Zlatan Košćević managed to reduce the score with a goal in the 50th minute, but Croatia was unable to achieve a complete turnaround. Croatia will play their last game in Varaždin against Romania on March 26 at 2 p.m.
