CROATIA BEAT LATVIA IN RIGA

2 minutes, 15 seconds Read

Croatia has one more game to play, and against Latvia, they climbed to second place in their qualification group for EURO 2024

LATVIA – CROATIA 0:2 (Majer 7′, Kramarić 16′)
LATVIA: Ozols – Savalnieks, Chernomordijs, Balodis, Ciganiks – Tobers, Saveljevs – Jaunzems (Jurkovskis 89′), J. Ikaunieks, Dashkevičs (Zelenkovs 89′) – Uldrikis (Krollis 83′)
CROATIA: Livaković – Stanišić, Šutalo, Erlić, Gvardiol – Modrić (Baturina 86′), Brozović – Majer, Kramarić (Marco Pašalić 80′), Ivanušec (Mario Pašalić 61′) – Budimir

Warm-cold. That’s how Croatia plays in the last five matches of the qualification for EURO 2024. After the shameful performances in October against Turkey and Wales, Croatia approached Latvia quite seriously. Although Croatia seemed to be playing at 50% of their strength in this match, in the opening part of the game, the “Vatreni” scored two goals furiously.

One day and two matches have changed everything. Croatia has everything in its hands. For EURO 2024, it is necessary to beat Armenia to avoid additional qualifications and even more drama. With the victory over Armenia, the performances in October will be forgotten, and after some time they will become the memory of comments.

Croatia solved everything already in the first 16 minutes of the match when they scored two valuable goals for the victory and second place. Lovro Majer scored the first goal in the seventh minute of the match, and just nine minutes later Andrej Kramarić increased the lead with his 27th goal for the national team. With that, he set the final score.

According to the good old custom, Croatia had possession of the ball for more than 60% of the time in the game and created specific opportunities for goals. Maybe some ball should have entered the goal, but it didn’t. Marco Pašalić could have increased the lead towards the end of the match, but the post prevented the ball from going into the goal. If he had scored, it would have been a great debut for Marco Pašalić in the Croatian jersey. The impression about the whole match is that Croatia played at 50% strength.

However, there is still a problem. Croatia has everything, but somehow there is not a lot of creativity in the game, and therefore there is no realization. Likewise, it is necessary to mention that our league is getting weaker and weaker, and we won’t achieve much with that. We need a stronger league and a better plan for young players who have yet to make it to the senior scene.

Nevertheless, let Croatia beat Armenia so that it will be much easier for everyone, and that no one will have much to worry about.
