Croatia first entered the Trophy division, and then came success in Rugby 7
The Croatian men’s national team in rugby 7 achieved historic success and entered the Championship division of the European Championships. By the way, rugby 7 is the Olympic version of rugby. Next season, Croatia will compete with the most extensive powers in this sport, such as Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, and France.
Three weeks ago, a tournament was held in Zagreb where Croatian rugby players won second place. But already this weekend they played a game in the capital of Hungary – Budapest. At this tournament, they won fourth place, but in terms of total points, they took second place in the Trophy division and thus entered a higher rank.
They beat Moldova, Luxembourg, and Switzerland in the group, and in the quarter-final game, they played against the latter again and won. Croatia played against Latvia and lost in the semi-final match, and Sweden was better in the game in third place.
In dramatic circumstances, they won fourth place but still advanced to a higher level of competition. Regardless of the defeat against Sweden and the same number of points as them, Croatia had a more significant difference and joined Ukraine in the Champions division, where numerous superpowers of this sport await them.
